Battle of the Booze - ARS vs Starbuck

Here we go!

It’s time for the next set of tunes in the Boozy Playoffs.

My gut tells me this one may be more of a mixed bag as far as votes go.

While I was familiar with Atlanta Rhythm Section, their tune was new to me in the initial battles.

The contender was also a new to me tune, as well as new to me artist. We can thank Mr Stephen for the introduction of this one to me.

I think this round will be interesting, to say the least.

Atlanta Rhythm Section - Champagne Jam

Starbuck - Doing Nothing

If you’re a blogger and want to join in the fun, please do so! There’s plenty of content for everyone to join in.

In the event that you are new here, or you have simply forgotten… Here’s a review of how a battle works:

  1. Listen to each of the contenders. Try not to be persuaded by the videos. I like to close my eyes and let the music transport me. Keep an open mind and don’t be persuaded by the artist name.

  2. Pick the contender that you prefer the most

  3. Leave a comment with the name of the contender you have chosen. Feel free to expound upon your choice.

  4. Visit the other bloggers that have battles taking place. Their battles are different from each other, so be sure to check them out.

    1. Stephen McCarthy

    2. Tossing It Out

    3. The Sound of One Hand Typing

    4. Curious As A Cathy

    5. dIEDRE

    6. Debbie DogLady

    7. Boromax aka Ed

Alright now… Cast your votes in the comments! Voting Results will be posted in the comments.

  1. I enjoyed both songs, but the languid "Doing Nothing" resonated a bit more. Cool and mellow! ☺

  2. The Bruce Blackman song is really nice and it does have that violin in it so that's a plus. It's a good one, but ARS brings back great memories and it still cooks when I listen to it now.

    Give me some Champagne Jam!

Both of these songs are winners in my book!
I like the ARS song, but I LOVE the Bruce Blackman song.

I told my brother, Judge Al Bondigas, that there may not be another song in existence that makes me relax and kick back more than 'Doing Nothing' does. (Extra Bonus: It was that very song which inspired me to try my first Mojito. I came to like Mojitos so much that "I need a cold Mojito" became one of my oft used slogans.)

I'm giving my "bote" to Bruce "Mojito" Blackman, and Judge Al is making a rulin' for him, too.

  4. WOW, I really like both of these songs! I'm not sure if this is the first time to hear both or I these just got pushed to the back of mind. I love ARS! Their sound is amazing and we were fortunate to see them in concert when DH was in college. The school he attend brought the band in to perform. That was awesome because "Imaginary Lover" was big at the time. As much as I love ARS and the vibe of "Champagne Jam", I think the mellow musical arrangement and soothing vocals of Bruce Blackman "Doing Nothing" steals my vote!

    Excellent battle, Mary!

  8. Yay! And now I see that I have been misspeaking in comments on other sites. I thought I was on the losing side in your battle, Mary. It must have been someone else's! Now I have to go figure that out. Interesting result. I came really close to voting for ARS. I like them and I have liked Champagne Jam for a lot of years. Maybe there is just something ultra-appealing about Doin' Nothin'. ~Ed.
