Battle of the Booze: February
Last month, I introduced you to a new themed battle.
As last month’s battle was more of an introduction and didn’t follow the ‘rules’ put forth by Stephen, Today’s battle is the actual first battle of the series on this blog.
We will both be running Battle of the Booze battles, but using our own selections - just to keep it interesting. I’ll share more of the ‘rules’ of the boozy battles, just in case some of you all want to join in as well.
The song MUST mention a specific type of booze - not just ‘alcohol’ or ‘drinking’
The format of the battles will be as follows:
Song A beats Song B.Song C beats Song D.Song E beats Song F.Song G beats Song H.Song I beats Song J.Song K beats Song L.Somewhere down the road, the Playoffs will begin, and look like this:A versus CE versus GI versus J
This month we are not only battling booze, but it appears we are battling states as well. For your official vote, please use the song that appeals to you the most.
Let’s get this party started!
Chris Stapleton
Dierks Bentley
If you’re a blogger and want to join in the fun, please do so! There’s plenty of content for everyone to join in.
In the event that you are new here, or you have simply forgotten… Here’s a review of how a battle works:
Listen to each of the contenders. Try not to be persuaded by the videos. I like to close my eyes and let the music transport me. Keep an open mind and don’t be persuaded by the artist name.
Pick the contender that you prefer the most
Leave a comment with the name of the contender you have chosen. Feel free to expound upon your choice.
Visit the other bloggers that have battles taking place. Their battles are different from each other, so be sure to check them out.
Alright now… Cast your votes in the comments! Voting Results will be posted on the 8th of this month.
Don’t forget to also check out today’s Song of The Day!

My liquor...I mean song of choice is Tennessee Whiskey in this Battle of the Booze! When you get a chance stumble over to check out today's BOTB, my friend!
ReplyDeleteI vote for the first song..Chris who had a bit more blues to the song. The 2nd one sounded too cou try to me.
ReplyDeleteThis is like a Tennessee vs Kentucky Battle. Both songs are okay, but I'm leaning toward Chris Stapleton--and Tennessee.
ReplyDeleteLee
I'll go with Chris.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, definitely Chris Stapleton. Best vocals too, (sigh).
ReplyDeleteA lot of contestants on talent shows (which I watch regularly) do Tennessee Whiskey, so I know it well. ☺ Bourbon in Kentucky was new to me and Dierks Bentley has a pleasing baritone, but Chris Stapleton's raw emotion appealed much more. A vote for Tennessee Whiskey!

ReplyDeleteYeah, I thought I smelled something stronger than Coca-Cola coming from this blog!
There ain't enough
Wild in the Turkey for me to forget you
. . .
There ain't enough
Grand in Old Grand-Dad for me to forget you
. . .
Naw, there ain't enough
Bottles I could empty to make 'em feel as empty as I do
I could probably have some fun writing a parody version of 'Bourbon In Kentucky'.
OK, getting down to bidnizz now...
If we're talking about actually *drinking* the stuffs, I would always choose bourbon from Kentucky over whiskey from Tennessee. I've had 'em both plenty of times, but bottom line: I found myself in Bourbon, Kentucky. (I got lost there a few times, too.)
I really, really dig that slow, deep, smoldering Bluesy sound of 'Tennessee Whiskey' and Chris Stapleton's voice. That song and voice are literally a *perfect* match, and there's just no way Dierks Bentley's voice and song can measure up.
Judge Al Bondigas no longer samples the "Evidence" (as we call hooch) but nevertheless, he said he also preferred listening to Chris Stapleton.
Please pour TWO SHOTS OF TENNESSE WHISKEY for Mr. Stapleton.
