#Roadtrip: British Columbia

Time to hit the road!

The premise behind this theme is to pick a location, and highlight some or all of the musical artists (not inclusive) that are associated with that location. The locations will not be limited to the continental United States. We’re going Everywhere! 

We were last in Seattle, so today we’re taking a little jaunt up the road to British Columbia!

Turns out there are quite a few artists/bands that are from beautiful British Columbia. If I’ve overlooked your favorite, tell me about it in the comments. We’ll be back for another visit.

Today’s Roadtrip Playlist:

1. Loverboy - formed in 1979 in Calgary, Alberta. Loverboy's hit singles, particularly "Turn Me Loose" and "Working for the Weekend", have become arena rock staples and are still heard on many classic rock and classic hits radio stations across Canada and the United States. The band is based in Vancouver, British Columbia. Today’s song: Turn Me Loose
2. Bryan Adams - though born in Ontario, his musical start began in Vancouver as a session musician. Adams rose to fame in Canada and the United States with his 1983 album Cuts Like a Knife. His 1984 album Reckless made him a global star and yielded some of his best-known songs, including "Run to You", "Summer of '69", and the U.S. number one hit "Heaven". In 1991, Adams released the album Waking Up the Neighbours, which included the song "(Everything I Do) I Do It for You"; the song became a worldwide hit, reached number one in many countries, and held the top spot in the charts in the United Kingdom for a record 16 consecutive weeks. Other U.S. Billboard Hot 100 number-one hit singles by Adams include "Please Forgive Me", "All for Love" and "Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman?". Adams released his Ultimate collection in 2017; it included two new songs, "Please Stay" and "Ultimate Love". He co-wrote his first Broadway musical, Pretty Woman: The Musical, in 2018.  Today's Song: Please Forgive Me
3. Theory of a Deadman - rock band from North Delta, British Columbia. Formed in 2001, the band is currently signed to Roadrunner Records as well as 604 Records. The band includes traits of music styles, such as country and acoustic, in addition to their post-grunge and alternative rock foundation. Nine of their singles have entered the top ten of the US Billboard Mainstream Rock chart, including four songs that peaked at number one: "Bad Girlfriend", "Lowlife", "Rx (Medicate)" and "History of Violence".  Today’s Song: RX (Medicate)
4. Michael Buble - born in Burnaby, British Columbia. His first album reached the top ten in Canada and the UK. He found a worldwide audience with his 2005 album It's Time as well as his 2007 album Call Me Irresponsible – which reached number one on the Canadian Albums Chart, the UK Albums Chart, the US Billboard 200, the Australian ARIA Albums Chart and several European charts. Bublé's 2009 album Crazy Love debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 after three days of sales, and remained there for two weeks. It was also his fourth number one album on Billboard's Top Jazz Albums chart. His 2011 holiday album, Christmas, was in first place on the Billboard 200 for the final four weeks of 2011 and the first week of 2012, totalling five weeks atop the chart, it also made the top 5 in the United Kingdom. With this, Christmas became his third-consecutive number-one album on the chart. To Be Loved was released in April 2013. Bublé has sold over 75 million records worldwide, and won numerous awards, including four Grammy Awards and multiple Juno Awards.[4] Bublé is a dual citizen of both Canada and Italy. 5. Nelly Furtado - born in Victoria, British Columbia. Furtado is known for her musical versatility and reinvention, commonly associated with world music. She first gained fame with her trip hop inspired debut album, Whoa, Nelly! (2000), which was a critical and commercial success that spawned two top 10 singles on the Billboard Hot 100, "I'm Like a Bird" and "Turn Off the Light". The first of the two singles won her a Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. Furtado's introspective folk-heavy 2003 second album, Folklore explored her Portuguese roots. Its singles received moderate success in Europe, but the album's underperformance compared to her debut was regarded as a sophomore slump. Today’s Song: Say It Right
