#4M: Suzi Q
It’s a new month, and we have a new musical conductor. Alana from Ramblin with AM gets to choose our themes this month. Today’s theme is Free Choice. This means anything goes :)
You may have seen the title of this post and thought this was going to be a post about the Creedence Clearwater Revival song, Suzi Q. That thought is incorrect. Today’s post is about Suzi Quatro, her latest album and documentary.
In the 1970s, Suzi Quatro scored a string of hit singles that found greater success in Europe and Australia than in her homeland, America. She reached no. 1 in the UK and other European countries and Australia with her singles "Can the Can" (1973) and "Devil Gate Drive" (1974). Following a recurring role as bass player Leather Tuscadero on the popular American sitcom Happy Days, her duet "Stumblin' In" with Smokie's lead singer Chris Norman reached No. 4 in the US.
Quatro released her self-titled debut album in 1973. Since then, she has released fifteen studio albums, ten compilation albums, and one live album. Her other solo hits include "48 Crash", "Daytona Demon", "The Wild One", and "Your Mama Won't Like Me".
In today’s playlist, I’ve included a few songs from the latest album, some of her older hits (because… well, you know… I can’t just turn my back on music from the ‘70s) and a trailer for the documentary of her life. Suzi turned 70 on June 3 of this year.
Please enjoy this week’s playlist:
- Stumblin’ In
- Can the Can
- No Soul/No Control
- Macho Man
- Official Documentary Trailer
Today’s post is part of the Monday’s Music Moves Me blog hop, hosted by X-Mas Dolly, and co-hosted by Stacy Uncorked, Curious as a Cathy. , and Ramblin with AM. Be sure to stop by the hosts and visit the other participants. If you have a MUSIC* post, feel free to join in the fun! *sorry non-music posts are not permitted in this blog hop.
I as never a fan of hers, but your playlist sounds nice.
ReplyDeleteMary,
ReplyDelete'Stumblin' In' I remember but I guess I forgot that she did it. "Macho Man" sounds a little familiar but I can't swear to it. I first heard of Suzi Q when she appeared on the sitcom Happy Days. Nice playlist. Thanks for sharing the 4M dance floor with us, my dear!
She was (and I assume still is) a hell of a bass player!
ReplyDeleteYou hooked me thinking this post was about the CCR song. "Suzy Q" by CCR is one of my all time favorite rock recordings. Not really familiar with Suzy Quatro or her music other than a general reference to Happy Days. But I didn't really keep up with that TV show either.

Tossing It Out
Suzy Quatro is a groundbreaking rock legend! 💖 Thanks for the feature and playlist.
ReplyDeleteNot gonna lie. Saw the title and was expecting Credence Clearwater Revival. But I dig this.
ReplyDeleteI think that I might have to check out that doc. Thanks for sharing it with us. She is a legend.
ReplyDeleteFirst tune, I don't think I ever heard it before, but talk about too cute! Your next tune, "Can the can"... nope can't say I ever heard that one before. So, SUZI QUATRO Wow! She really lived her life her way didn't she. The last video really told her whole story. Thanks for sharing! Great job. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteSuzi Quatro is 70? And all those other people in the trailer, they are kind of old, too...which means I'M OLD, just like them. Yikes. Who knew? But seriously, although the name is familiar, the only song I knew was Stumblin' In - but now I'm a fan.
