#AtoZChallenge: V
This post is part of a month-long blogging challenge. The challenge is to start the month with the letter A and make our way to letter Z at the end of the month.
A quick review of what we’re doing here:
I’ll post 3 to 5 songs with a word that represents the letter of the day. In the comments, you’ll share songs that also use the selected word in either the title or lyrics. Pretty easy, and loads of fun! Today’s word choice is a bit of a tough one, but I think I got it!
Today’s word is “Valley”
From Dictionary.com:
- Pleasant Valley Sunday - The Monkees
- Down In the Valley - Burl Ives
- Red River Valley - Michael Martin Murphey
- Harper Valley PTA - Jeannie C Riley
- Death Valley Nights - Blue Oyster Cult
And those are my Valleys for the day. Let’s see what Valley songs you come up with. Your songs can be from any musical genre. Share in the comments.
FranknZappa, Valley Girl
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love the Monkees. Did you know that Carole King and Gerry Goffin wrote that song?
Oh great song!

ReplyDeleteI loved The Monkees when I was growing up. So fun and silly. Weekends In Maine
ReplyDeleteIn the Misty Moonlight (...way down in the VALLEY, I know I'll be happy...)
ReplyDeleteI can't think of any songs with valley either! :/
ReplyDeleteV is for Valuable

The first song that came to mind was Valley of the Dolls Theme Song. I always get a kick out of listening to Harper Valley PTA. I remember I watched a movie based on the song.
ReplyDeleteI can't think of any songs with the word Valley in the title. But this is a great theme and a very fun idea.

ReplyDeleteDarn! Cheryl got "Valley of the Dolls"! I can't think of any others...
ReplyDeleteHokey-Smoke! I can't believe you even know 'DEATH VALLEY NIGHTS'. That's such a great but obscure song! That whole album - 'SPECTRES' - is just filled with fantastic songs. Easily my favorite BOC album. The follow-up album, 'Mirrors', would be my second favorite BOC album.
ReplyDeleteOK, my song choice is . . .
'Frankie Valli Stole Rudy Vallée's Wine In Napa Valley'
~ D-FensDogG
'FERRET-FACED FASCIST FRIENDS'
I thought of Valley Girl and SAN Fernando Valley sung by Bing Crosby.
ReplyDeleteLove the guitar intro for Pleasant Valley Sunday. Such an upbeat, happy song.
