Love Is In The Air: She
February 3, 2020
Much like my Jingle All The Way series that I did in December, I've decided to present to you Love Songs from the 1970's for the entire month of February. Yes, Valentines Day is a commercial holiday, but we will be celebrating love all month long here at Jingle Jangle Jungle. (Chocolates and Roses not needed)
You are more than welcome to join in the fun, all you need to do is include a link to your post in the comments so that everyone can visit. The more the merrier :)
Alright! Let’s get this party started! Fill up those waterbeds, break out the black lights and disco balls and let’s have some fun!
The third song for this month -
She by Charles Aznavour
Wikipedia tells us about this song:
"She" is a song written by Charles Aznavour and Herbert Kretzmer and released by Aznavour as a single in 1974. The song was written in English as a theme tune for the British TV series Seven Faces of Woman.
Aznavour also recorded it in French, German, Italian and Spanish, under the respective titles "Tous les visages de l'amour" (English: All the Faces of Love), "Sie" (English: She) "Lei" (English: She) and "Es" (English: [She] is), respectively. He also recorded the song in a more uptempo French version with different lyrics, simply titled "Elle" (English: She).
The song peaked at number 1 on the UK Singles Chart and stayed there for four weeks; it was certified silver for shipments exceeding 250,000 units. It also reached number 1 in the Irish Charts, spending one week at the top. It was less popular outside the UK (where Seven Faces of Woman did not air); in France, the song narrowly missed the top 40, and in the United States, it failed to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 and charted on the lower end of the easy listening charts.
Elvis Costello recorded a cover version of the song in 1999. This version, produced by Trevor Jones, was featured over the final sequence of the film Notting Hill, and charted throughout Europe.
Won’t you join me in this fun month-long theme? Again, all you need to do is post your link in the comments.
Today’s post is also part of the Monday’s Music Moves Me blog hop, hosted by X-Mas Dolly, and co-hosted by JAmerican Spice, Stacy Uncorked, Curious as a Cathy. , and Ramblin with AM. I’m not familiar with that song ...it sounds beautiful
ReplyDeleteHi Girlfriend, How are you? I hope you're well. Let's stay that way okie dokie? Good! I've never heard this tune before, but yes it's definitely romantic. Cute! Now I went & looked up Elvis Costello's version and that was really romantic I liked his version a lot more. Cool! Thanks....
ReplyDeleteMary,
ReplyDelete'She' sounds a bit familiar but I'm not sure why that is,though. Maybe, I'm remembering Elvis Costello's cover. I don't know but anyhow, Arznavour's arrangement sure is romantic sounding, isn't it? Thanks for hitting the dance floor with the 4M gang, my dear. Please take extra good care of yourself. We understand. Your health comes first! 😘
I kind of remember that song but it was great to hear it again. Thanks for sharing it.
ReplyDeleteI don't know that I've ever seen Charles Aznavour himself, just a bunch of parodies of him. Now I can see the resemblances... Seriously, this is a beautiful song and he has a very nice voice.
ReplyDeleteStill having goose bumps when I hear him. He is a legend💗 😸Pawkisses for a Happy Wednesday🐾😽💞
ReplyDeleteI was not familiar with either Charles Aznavour or "She", or, for that matter, any cover of this song. All new to me, and I'm glad, because what a voice he had! Happy for the introduction.
ReplyDeleteHi Mary. I haven't heard of Charles or this song before. The lyrics are beautiful . Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
