#RMF2019 #4M: Bob Seger

Today Monday’s Music Moves Me (#4M) joins hands together with #RocktoberMusicFest2019. We have a ‘Free Choice’ week this week, so it will be #RMF2019 as usual :)  Today, I’m sharing music from Bob Seger.

Wikipedia tells us this about Bob Seger:
Robert Clark Seger is an American singer, songwriter and musician. As a locally successful Detroit-area artist, he performed and recorded as Bob Seger and the Last Heard and Bob Seger System throughout the 1960s, breaking through with his first national hit and album in 1968. By the early 1970s, he had dropped the 'System' from his recordings and continued to strive for broader success with various other bands. In 1973, he put together the Silver Bullet Band, with a group of Detroit-area musicians, with whom he became most successful on the national level with the album Live Bullet, recorded live with the Silver Bullet Band in 1975 at Cobo Hall in Detroit, Michigan. In 1976, he achieved a national breakout with the studio album Night Moves. On his studio albums, he also worked extensively with the Alabama-based Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section, which appeared on several of Seger's best-selling singles and albums.

I’ve put together a set list of his music for you to enjoy!

  1. Thanks for the Bob Seger tunes, Mary. Love them! ♥ He's had an amazing career and is currently on his final (so he says) tour. We're looking forward to seeing him in Toronto on Oct. 26th.

    2. He's fantastic live! 💖 We celebrated my 60th birthday at his Ride Out tour in 2015. Concert pics (and sometimes, videos, although they usually don't turn out that well) will be shared at some point. 😎

  2. Mary,

Bob Seger's mewsic career has been a good one. You may like to know that 'Night Moves' doesn't play. You shared some of his greatest songs and while I might have recalled at one point Seger's 'We've Got Tonight' but it's Kenny Rogers and Sheena Easton that comes to mind when I think of that title. Great share for #RMF. Come to listen to my band feature today, Golden Earring when you can!

    1. Thank you for letting me know about Night Moves. I hate it when I have a playlist all set up and then it doesn't play. I've replaced the video so now it should work.

Bob Seger wrote We've Got Tonight, but Kenny Rogers and Sheena Easton covered it. While out double checking my facts, I learned that since Seger's mother passed in 1989, he has included the song in his each of his concerts.

    2. Mary,

Not to worry about the playlist. That happens to me, too. Thanks for sharing the additional tidbit about Seger using "We've Got Tonight" at each of his concerts since his mother's passing. I wonder if it was her favoirte song and that's why he includes it, do you know?

  5. Roy Orbison, “Ooby Dooby”

Nice set today. Bob Seger had that song "Ramblin' Gamblin' Man" in '69, then disappeared for a few years...

  7. Bob Seger is one of those on my playlist of life, especially Night Moves, which is a bit strange because there were no drive ins anywhere near where I grew up in New York City. "Turn the Page" is another fav; thank you for the opportunity to listen to some of his music.
