#A2ZChallenge Reflections & Giveaway Winners Announced: Jingle Jangle Jungle
The A to Z Blogging Challenge has come to an end. This was the fifth year that I participated in the challenge.
What set this challenge apart from the others for me was that this was the first time that I had two blogs entered.
This year, for this blog, I chose to play a sort of game. Each day I chose a word that represented the letter of the day and I presented 3 songs. The ‘game’ part came in where I asked you, the reader, to comment with your songs that used the same word.
Each year that I’ve participated, it seems that something has gone awry. This year was no different. I was really excited in that I had all of my posts written and scheduled prior to the start of the month - I think this was my only saving grace this year.
We got off to a good start, I was able to respond in a timely manner to comments and visit other blogs that had joined in the challenge.
But then..Week two arrived, and I feeling a bit under the weather and it really slowed me down considerably. To top it off, the batteries in my mouse died and my battery recharger stopped working (it was only 15 years old!) Thank goodness, I had seen that one coming, and coincidentally had ordered a new one. It arrived the day the old one died.
On Week Three, my computer started to ‘not cooperate’. Two days in a row, my monitor decided to take it’s time to turn on. To remedy this, I changed the settings in my system to not let the system go to sleep, and set my screensaver to a darker screen. Each day, I would ‘restart’ the system (not turn off/on). By the end of the week, I was still feeling as tired as my computer was sounding. (One of the external fans had died, and another was making a lot of noise). This seemed to work fine until Friday evening of the 26th, when I shut down the system without even thinking about the consequences. When I turned on the system Saturday morning, I could not get the monitor to respond at all.
After spending the enter weekend trying to do everything that I needed to do by phone, I was able to have a repair service make an emergency house call on Monday afternoon. I ended up having to replace my monitor, 2 external fans, and the power source. It was the power source that was making all the racket. I’m so glad that I had all of my posts scheduled so they automatically went out!
Despite all of this, I will most likely participate again next year.
This year, I also had a giveaway that you could take advantage of. I would like to extend my Congratulations to Audrey S, who won the Gift Card and to Brent S who won the Bigfoot Lives T-shirt. I am still waiting to hear back from the third winner - Cindi K to claim the book prize. Did you participate this year? Did you enjoy this year's theme? What should I do for a theme next year? I’m open to ideas…
Congratulations on completing the A to Z challenge despite having so many problems, Mary! Your theme was fun, as usual. Great idea to have a giveaway, as well. I sat out the last two years, but may join in, next time. (Better start now, right? ☺)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Debbie!
DeleteI really enjoyed this year's theme. I'm hoping next year's circumstances are better. And you should join in again. 2 years is quite a break!
Congrats on finishing! Those sound like some pretty big obstacles to overcome technically too. Glad I found your site in time to participate a little. Thanks for visiting mine when you could.

Thanks, Janet!
DeleteI really enjoyed visiting your site. I just wish I could have visited more. Feel free to stop in any time, as I'm usually doing something here.
congrats to the winners and congrats on finishing. i enjoyed the challenge and trying to come up with titles of songs too :D

Thanks, Joy!
DeleteI appreciated your visits as well. Here's to the rest of the year!
Congratulations. Despite computer issues and illness, you made it! And with two blogs. It was fun playing the "name more songs with that word" the few times I made it to your blog - I apologize for not visiting more. Hope you do this again next year!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Alana!
DeleteI think I might just do it again next year - giveaway and all :) I feel bad that I didn't make it to your page. I just had too many things going on. I hope to remedy that.
Mary,
ReplyDeleteI think I followed you mostly this year but I'm going to bookmark your 'Reflections' post so I double check myself. Yikes, you sure did have the issues going on last month. Not only weren't you feeling well but your computer wasn't either. I didn't make it to your other blog, but I certainly admire your committment to run two for the challenge. I don't know how you did it. I barely managed the one that I have, so it's safe to say I'll never do what you did. :) I'm glad your computer woes are behind you for now. Hopefully, no more headaches await you. I really enjoyed how you handled your mewsic theme this year with the word prompt and then asking us to come up with a song. That's a clever way of getting new future content for posts. :) Congratulations on finishing the race with me and here's to looking forward to the 2020 A2Z. Whoo-hoo!
April 2019 Reflections - a look at the #atozchallenge and what I learned
Hi Cathy!
DeleteThe Challenge was definitely a 'challenge' this year. I don't know that I was thinking of more content in the way of playing a game, but rather more engagement. I feel like I really dropped the ball on that one, too. Next year will be better, right?
It sounds like you've had a nightmare with tech over the month. Fingers crossed it's all sorted now. Nice timing for the charger though
ReplyDeleteDebbie
It was definitely a wild ride. Hopefully it's all sorted now.
