#AtoZChallenge : Queen
We’re back again with more fun with the A to Z Challenge.
A quick review of what we’re doing here:
I’ll post 2 to 3 songs with a word that represents the letter of the day. In the comments, you’ll share songs that also use said word in either the title or lyrics. Pretty easy, and loads of fun!
Today’s word is “Queen”
From Dictionary.com:
Mountain “Mississippi Queen”
Whitney Houston “Queen of the Night”
Queen “Killer Queen”
And that’s my 3 ‘Queen’ songs for the day. Let’s see what ‘Queen’ songs you come up with. Share in the comments.
Mary,
ReplyDelete'Killer Queen' is the only song title I recognized this morning. I'm surprised I didn't know Whitney Houston's song. No suprise that I didn't know 'Mississippi Queen' because the band didn't ring a bell with me.
I did a quick check on Ranker's 100 and these are the only two that jumped out at me immediately. A lot of the titles sounded familiar but when I listened they were new to me. Go figure. Anywho, here are my picks:
Carribean Queen - Billy Ocean
Black Magic Woman/Gypsy Queen - Santana (I learned 'Gypsy Queen' was written & performed by Hungarian jazz guitartis Gabor Szabo)
Check out Atlantica's QUEEN, Althena, & the Little Mermaid's mother in today's A2Z Little Mermaid art sketch 'Queen' post. Happy a2zing, my friend!
Hi Cathy!
DeleteWhitney's song was from The Bodyguard. It was one of the few from that movie that I really enjoyed. I discovered Mississippi Queen back in the mid 90's when it was used in a Mtn Dew commercial.
Mary, I don't remember the Mtn Dew commercial...I may have to look for it on YT to refresh my memory. I think I have A2Z brain freeze right. :)
DeleteDancing Queen by Abba. That's all I've got. Love Caribbean Queen.
ReplyDeleteJanet’s Smiles
Those are 2 really good ones, Janet!
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
These are ideal choices. One of my favorite songs with "Queen" in the title is the Incredible String Band's "Queen of Love". An odd haunting song.
ReplyDeleteQueen of Love.
Arlee Bird
Tossing It Out
That's a new one for me. Quite interesting.
DeleteFantastic girlfriend and I'm always saying why oh why didn't I think of that one. Bodyguard is one of my favorite movies. Now you know, I'm going to have to go watch that now! ~hehehe~ It is a stellar movie isn't it? Well, believe me I was surprised once again to see you over by me girlfriend we are similar in wave lengths, but I do admit your above me with your music challenge. Fantastic tune choice. Do you watch "The voice"? I loveee that show. I must say I'm so glad Blake has slowed down with the hugging & kissing with everyone especially men cuz I know he's not that way, but it just looks odd. They got some really good ones this year, but not as many as other years for sure. I really enjoyed myself here. YOU GO GIRL!
ReplyDeleteBelieve it or not - I have not watched television in a good 10 years. I don't even own one anymore. I do, however, catch bits and pieces on youtube. I don't even watch Netflix anymore, but sometimes, yet very rarely, I'll watch something on Amazon Prime. See you in a bit for the letter R!
DeleteCelestial the Queen - Blue Oyster Cult. Otherwise, I would have guessed Dancing Queen (love Abba!) but I'm a little late in commenting.
ReplyDeleteDancing Queen is a good one. Not sure that I've heard the Blue Oyster Cult tune - will have to check it out. And you're not late at all. You made it here on the day of posting :) Which means you're doing far better than I am.
DeleteDancing Queen Abba is the one that comes up for me - funny someone mentioned it at a meeting this morning! Popping by from the A to Z blog list. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteGreat song choices - love Queen of the Night.
ReplyDeleteIt is mentioned more than once but I am an AABA fiend so Dancing Queen and..God Saves the Queen..Hear it whenever Queen E is around
ReplyDeleteGreat selection! Dancing Queen immediately came to mind -- and I see in the comments it is the same for most :-)
ReplyDeleteSo...
