#RocktoberMusicFest : Three Days Grace - The Good Life
Today’s post comes from a little more recent band (as opposed to the older music that we’ve been enjoying here)
Three Days Grace is a Canadian Rock band that formed in 1997. In 2013, lead singer Adam Gontier, left the band. He was replaced by Matt Walst. Matt’s brother, Brad, is the bass player for the band. The band described Gontier's departure as being abrupt and unexplained. The departure came just weeks before a co-headlining tour. Gontier explained that he was simply ready to start a new chapter in his life, stating, "After twenty years of being part of an ever evolving band, I have been inspired by life, to move on and to continue to evolve on my own terms."
Three Days Grace has seen quite a bit of success over the years, with their albums going double and triple platinum. I had a difficult time choosing which song to showcase for you today.
Originally, I thought about “I Hate Everything About You” or “Pain” but finding a decent video that didn’t have regional restrictions was proving to be difficult. Finally, I have settled on “The Good Life”
If you are a fan of sports, there is a very good chance that you have heard this song before.
Wikipedia tells us this about the song:
"The Good Life" is a song and the second single from Three Days Grace's 2009 album Life Starts Now. It was released for radio airplay on February 9, 2010. It charted at #85 on the Canadian Hot 100 before becoming a single. The song also was featured on ESPN's Winter X Games XIV, and was used during the Professional Motocross Freestyle show Nuclear Cowboyz. "The Good Life" was the featured song for the 2010 ACC Men's Basketball Tournament, and also during the 2010 NFL Draft. The song was also performed during a concert of Three Days Grace along series of concerts during the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver on February 15, 2010. The song hit #1 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks and Rock Songs chart and #4 on the Alternative Songs chart matching "Break". This is the most recent Three Days Grace song to hit the Top 10 on the Alternative Songs chart.
Now that you know a little bit about the band and the song, it’s time to turn up that volume and rock it on out…. (again, I had a hard time finding a video that didn’t have regional restrictions, so I hope you don’t mind this lyric video)
