Spell Your Name With A Song... plus #BattleOfTheBands Results

We have a fun theme for today’s Monday’s Music Moves Me. Theme has been selected by John over at Sound Of One Hand Typing.

We have been given the task to spell our name using Song Titles.  I have previously used this idea in July 2017 in my Self-Indulgence series. But, there are literally a gazillion songs out there, so I’m happy to do another post using different songs.

Without further ado… This is how I spell my name This Week:

Maneater - Hall & Oates
Another One Bites The Dust - Queen
Remedy - Seether
Yellow Ledbetter - Pearl Jam

Blue Ain’t Your Color - Keith Urban
Under The Sky - Heart
Rag Doll - Aerosmith
Renegade - Thin Lizzy
I Want You To Want Me - Cheap Trick
Scarborough Fair - Simon & Garfunkel

How do you spell your name in song? I’m curious to hear…

Stay tuned as next week, I’m going to put a twist on this theme…

Before we go, I need to talk about the recent battle of the bands. I was so happy to see so many of you put on your big pants and give the battle your votes.  At first, I thought that Denis Leary was going to run away with the votes. Then, out of the blue, Meredith Brooks found her stride and caught up quickly. I literally had to wait until the very last minute for the final vote to come in to declare a winner of this battle.

The results:

Denis Leary with 11 votes
Meredith Brooks with 9 votes

The next battle of the bands takes place on May 15.  I haven’t quite planned it out yet, so be sure to stop in to see who the contenders are (and cast your votes, of course!)  .

  1. You've got some of my favorites here, Mary, especially Scarborough Fair/Canticle by Simon and Garfunkel, and Another One Bites the Dust (which I took a slightly different take on - we must have been thinking on similar wavelengths, though). John did come up with a fun one, didn't he?

    1. Oh, it's definitely a fun one! I could play this one over and over and not come up with the same songs twice. Just wait until you see what I've got in store for next week :)

  2. Mary,

Fabulous 'name' playlist. You might like to know #4 "Yellow Lebetter" doesn't work. You pulled together some excellent song choices for this week's theme. I listened to all of the songs while I played catch up responding to comments and doing return visits. I love the continuous flow of mewsic and so appreciate that you got me hooked on doing the same thing!!!

It looks like I went with the winner in this battle. Your showdown was closer than mine but mine did shape up better than I first thought. I'm sharing my BoTB results in tomorrow's post.

Thanks for joining the 4M gang on the dance floor and have a tunetastic week, dear friend!!

    1. Ugh! It looks as though the folks with the Yellow Ledbetter video aren't allowing it to be embedded on a website. I'm going to see if I can't find another version to replace it with.

Looking forward to your battle results and I'll be around to check out how you spelled your name as well :)

  4. Fun theme and a fabulous playlist, Mary! My BOTB choice lost, but not by much. That's okay; I love Denis Leary too. Cheers! (P.S. I'm stepping back into the Blogosphere with a new travelogue today, if you're interested.)

    1. Hi Debbie!

I was really surprised at how close the battle was. It was really looking like Denis Leary was running away with it for a hot minute. This was a fun battle I may have to do something similar in the future. In the meantime, I plan to come around and visit your post. Good to see you blogging again.

  5. A two-vote margin of victory = a great BOTB installment.

Nicely done, MMQE. And Denis cranked his votes "up to eleven"!

I know I'm supposed to post my Battle Results today, but I'm just SO TIRED and not feeling it. But... I guess I'll try. Well, maybe. Even though I really should wait until I'm in the proper fun mood.

    1. Boy, I sure hear you on the 'not feeling it' side of things. I think I posted my results a day early - but that's because I didn't want to post just battle results. So happy to hear Debbie and Michele will be joining us again next week. Now, if only we can convince Kim (ReInvintaged) to come back... (as well as many of the others!)

Still not sure what next week's battle will be. Kicking around some ideas in my head but nothing is sparking yet. I have to be careful with those sparks - don't want to cause a fire or nothing.

Yeah, I think maybe you finally got the idea through to them that submitting the comment "This is a fun concept and thanks for posting it" is NOT worth a tinker's damn. (Whatever a tinker's damn is.)

I knew Debbie has stated that she's returning to BOTB, but I did not know Michele was, too. I need to remember to reinstall links to their blogs next time.

At my age, I also need to remind myself to keep breathing every so often.

    4. yup Michele mentioned it passing yesterday that she'll be back for the May 15 battle. Still working on convincing Kim that once a month is a good start :)

Finally got a good night's sleep (or perhaps it was an early morning's sleep).

  9. Hey Mary,
Wow, it feels good to be back! Thanks for checking in on me. I so appreciated that.
John's theme is so much fun. In fact, swing back by my place if and when you have a minute: I went ahead and added TWO additional name playlists! There are just so many great songs that I wanted to use that I'm sure I'll keep putting these name playlists together.
Loved your choices. "Rag Doll" is so good! I love Aerosmith.
Also love Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust" and "Scarborough Fair". Simon & Garfunkel remind me so much of my early college days...
I wasn't familiar with Remedy and I enjoyed it so thanks for including it.

Will be good to get back into the monthly battles too. I just can't do more than one at this point. So much going on and I have a hard time of keeping up on my critical shit, let alone my blogging...

Missed talking with you at least every week. Glad to be coming back so we can get back to that...
    Have a great week,

    Michele at Angels Bark

    1. HaHa! I would have just wrote them out as scheduled posts and used them to fill up the 'freebie weeks' but that's just me. Will definitely run back over to your page to check out the additions.

You missed a good battle this last one. It was a FUN post (and you will laugh your ass off!) Now, I just need to settle down and come up with another good one for the 15th.

You'll be back full force before you know it - don't let the small shit keep you down.
