The Last Destination - PLUS #BOTB Results
Here we are… back at Monday again. The final week in March. Where does the time go? I think the older I get the faster the days and weeks fly by.
I would by telling a lie if I said I didn’t let out a groan when I saw this week’s suggested theme for Monday’s Music Moves Me. I think I’ve done 3 other posts on this same theme within the past year. I ALMOST decided to skip the theme and just do my own thang, when it occurred to me that I do have one more post in me on the subject.
We travel throughout our lives. Some people physically travel, while others, such as myself, are more of what I call armchair travelers. We are transported to locations via books, movies, and photos.
But there is that one final destination that we don’t often think about when broached with the subject of locations. I’m here to help remind us :)
Because I’m not here to judge you as individuals (okay, yes, secretly I do judge each of you - especially when you post comments that suggest that you didn’t bother to read the post) I’m showcasing two final destinations. You can only visit one in the end. Which will it be for you?
In other news, it’s time for the results of the latest Battle of the Bands!
The Mid-March Battle of the Bands was for ‘The Show Must Go On’. Three Dog Night challenged original artist, Leo Sayer, in this battle.
I found it interesting that when the songs were first released, Leo Sayer did well in the UK, and Three Dog Night did well in the US. It was interesting to watch the votes come in. Those that favored Leo Sayer were primarily from UK and other countries, and those that favored Three Dog Night were from the US. So the results were really no surprise when put in this perspective.
The Final Tally:
Leo Sayer with 6 votes
Three Dog Night with 11 votes
And two lost souls who were unable to form an opinion. These two have outstanding warrants with the Grammar Police. I have referred their IP addresses to the officials. Justice will be served!
I want to take a moment and thank those of you who took the time to cast your votes in the latest battle. I look forward to seeing you again for a very special April Fool’s Day Battle of the Bands. Who do you think will be in the battle? Will it be Tiny Tim? Weird Al? Will it be a special Easter themed battle? Come back on April 1 (or during the first week of April) to find out!
ps... Is the highway versus a stairway an indication of the amount of traffic headed to each destination?
Sorry you didn't like our theme this week, but when we have a Spotlight Dancer it's their choice. Besides there's so many places for you to choose from you never really run out. I'm sure you'll see that today if you decide to visit others in our group. Yours is definitely unique though I'm sure. Stairway to heaven is a good song to learn if you're learning how to play guitar. It's very simple to play! Thank you for playing along with us today!
ReplyDeleteThere's a big difference between not liking a theme and overuse of a topic. I never once stated that I didn't care for the theme, only said that I was concerned as I had done three posts of this theme in the past year. I don't know about you, but when the same note is played over and over, it does get a bit tedious. I know I am not the only one who has mentioned this.
DeleteHave to take the Stairway even though both are great. Thanks for sharing your list.
ReplyDeleteLOL Patrick... are you sure you don't want to take that Highway to Hell?
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
~Mary
I had the same feeling when I saw the theme, because I thought I and my readers had exhausted the supply. You did well here!
ReplyDeleteThanks, John!
DeleteSometimes I wonder if others just need some help thinking outside the box to come up with ideas. I know I gain inspiration from time to time from your posts.

Hi Mary; Interesting theme, even though it has been done many times before. Love the tunes, of course! ☺ As for actual final destinations, those are subject to one's beliefs. Earth, wind, heaven, hell...Who knows? ;) Are you participating in the A to Z Challenge this year? If so, I hope to catch some of your entries, even though I won't be taking part.
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie!
DeleteI've decided to not participate in the A to Z in an official capacity. Still deciding if I will do a weekly post for the A to Z or not. Shoot, I thought I had a great idea for April Fools Battle... but early this morning I had a brilliant thought cross my mind and now I'm not even sure what I'm going to end up posting for that battle. Factor in that the cute one is taking a bit of my personal time (he's always more fun than blogging) I'm hoping I'll be able to make some visits during the challenge as well.
~Mary
Real life (especially when it's fun!) over blogging. Always! ☺ I've noticed quite a few A to Z regulars are skipping it this year. Interesting trend!
DeleteYeah, I think a lot of people have experienced the post-challenge burnout in the past and are trying to preserve themselves.
DeleteInteresting music from a fresh perspective. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Delete>>... "ps... Is the highway versus a stairway an indication of the amount of traffic headed to each destination?"
ReplyDeleteGood observation, MMQE. As the wisest Person who ever lived once said:
“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it."
If Debbie is right, that final destinations "are subject to one's beliefs", then I'm going to Purple Haze, where the Unicorns and the Mermaids play. Where seldom is heard a sobrietous word and the skies are milk chocolate all day.
Is Tiny Tim coming to BOTB again? That would be great. The guy has a 3-1 record in BOTB. Pretty darn good for a person everyone thinks is a One-Hit Joke.
You know, your Battle did not end too badly, considering that at one time it looked like a shutout in the making.
Say, I was trying look something up on your BOTB Master list a couple nights ago but it wasn't working for me. Did you put "The Cone of Silence" over it so I couldn't hear it anymore?

>>... "Is Tiny Tim coming to BOTB again? That would be great."
DeleteI read this to the cute one last night. He says that would really cool to have Tiny Tim in a battle, and then started rattling off Tiny Tim trivia. Me thinks you and the cute one would get along perfectly.
I guess you will just have to wait and see what the fool's day has in store for the battle. Anticipation...
I'll have to double check the settings on the BOTB Master. I don't think I changed anything, but who knows. I'll send you a fresh link via email.

>>... "I read this to the cute one last night."
DeleteI guess I don't know who "The Cute One" is, because I always thought it was I. This comes as a disappointing surprise to me.
Oh, wait a second! I'm "The Drunk One". Now I remember!!
>>... "Me thinks you and the cute one would get along perfectly."
If he's buying, I'm sure you're right.
(Only really twisted people dig Tiny. Dang! I wish I were home right now. I need a fix bad! 'On The Old Front Porch' or 'Then I'd Be Satisfied With Life' would do it.)
>>... "Anticipation..."
I don't think Tiny covered that song.
Hey, MMQE, I got the new BOTB Master list and it works just fine. THANK YOU! (Will r-E-ply soon.)

ReplyDeleteCathy...
DeleteGreat minds think alike!

I know where I want to go for my final destination and AC/DC doesn't have a clue. While on this Earth I'll travel as much as I can either for real or in my chair, but a nice rest is needed now and then.
ReplyDeleteInteresting how the Battle results broke down. I was almost tempted to vote for Leo's version, but in the end I went for the version I know best.

I thought it was interesting how the votes broke down as far as from where they came from vs who they voted for. Thanks for stopping by, Lee!

Hey Mary,
ReplyDeleteGreat idea with the "Final Destination" direction! That was perfect for one who feels burned out on a specific theme. Brilliant actually! :) I never gave that a thought. Speaking of Final Destination: did you ever see the movie series? I loved the first one and I know I liked one of the 2nd or 3rd ones...
As for the battle results, I'm glad Three Dog Night won. But it was cool to learn that the song was Leo Sayers. I hadn't thought of Leo Sayers in DECADES! So that was a neat stroll back to the 70s...
I'll try to stop in to check out your April Fools battle. As you know I'm having my shoulder repair surgery on Monday and have so much to do before. I'm stressing to the max. Too much to do! Anyway, I won't be doing the 4M next week and it really depends on how I feel as to when I come back. But I'm going to continue with my Color theme. Still have a few colors do go... :)
Keep in touch.
Have a great week,
Michele at Angels Bark
Have I seen 'Final Destination'? I saw about 15 minutes of the first one, and made the cute one take it out and put something else in to watch. He was disappointed. There are 5 in the series and I couldn't make it through the first one. I told him he could watch them, but not to expect me to be in the same room while he does. I'm a bit of a wuss that way.
DeleteI hope that all goes well with your surgery. How is your mother doing?
In case I don't see you again this week, hope everything goes well for you.

Mary, my love, you crack me up! It's so good to laugh a bit in the aftermath of my sweet father-in-law's passing. I know he climbed the "Stairway to Heaven" Tuesday a week ago to be with our loving Savior and darling wife who is the love of his life. What brought a smile to my face is your comment about those who didn't vote. My vote went for the victor of this round. Yahoo! Your mewsic theme song choices are excellent. You really thought outside the box on this one and one I certainly didn't even think of. John had a cool twist on his, too. My brain feels sorta banged up lately, so it's nice to see how others get creative on the dance floor. Have a good day and I hope you have time to meet me at center stage for my April 1st BoTB on Saturday. :)
ReplyDeleteCathy,
DeleteSo sorry to hear of your loss. If he is half as sweet as you, I'm certain that he has climbed that stairway. Looking forward to your battle this weekend.
~Mary
I just could not resist--I had to listen to Stairway to Heaven!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Miki!
DeleteIt's a good classic, for sure! Thanks for stopping by!
~Mary
Stairway to Heaven always brings back memories of the last song of the night at high school beach dances but I'm afraid I might be more likely to be taking this final journey with AC/DC
ReplyDeleteSometimes climbing higher and higher seems too scary...and the highways, aren't those straight? They are. Every path is a challenge. the Final destination? Both paths lead somewhere, but this time, i will take the stairway.
