Randomness
Time again for Monday’s Music Moves Me. There really isn’t a theme for today, so I thought I’d share a few random songs that I’ve recently enjoyed, as I’ve struggled with focus lately. I’ve put them in a playlist so that the page will load faster.
- “Move You” Kelly Clarkson performs this new single from "Meaning of Life," her upcoming eighth studio album.
- “The Sky Is A Neighborhood” From the newly released "Concrete and Gold" Foo Fighters album. Dave Grohl's daughters, Violet and Harper, appear in the video.
- “Come Together” Gary Clark Jr. has recorded a version of the Beatles classic, featured in the trailer for the upcoming Warner Bros. Picture's motion picture Justice League.
- “The Chain” Harry Styles does a stand up job with this Fleetwood Mac cover.
- “Too Good At Goodbyes” New single for Sam Smith.
What have you been listening to lately?
Today’s post is part of the Monday’s Music Moves Me blog hop, hosted by X-Mas Dolly, and co-hosted by JAmerican Spice, Stacy Uncorked and Curious as a Cathy. Be sure to stop by the hosts and visit the other participants.
Wonderful variety! I like Gary Clark Jr and The Foo Fighters the best from this group. Fun songs!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mike!
DeleteI'm really liking the Foo Fighter's song. It may be my favorite from their new album. I've always liked 'Come Together' and Gary Clark Jr makes it come to life even more for me.

I was actually thinking of a different theme for this week, and I was going to have a Foo Fighter song (not this one, though). I haven't heard too much of Sam Smith - I didn't quite expect this. "Come Together" was a heck of a cover - it really rocked! Thank you for the Randomness - this also reminded me that I need to learn to make playlists. Maybe this time I'll learn how. ReplyDeleteI'm a huge Dave Grohl fan, there's no denying it, so you really can't go wrong with any of the Foo Fighter songs :) It had been awhile since I had heard anything from Sam Smith. He was really popular not too long ago, and I was beginning to wonder if he was just a flash in the pan. It's good to see him release some new material.

Although I usually listen to Hits One in my car whenever I go places, I've recently stopped listening to the radio. I've been training to give ghost tours downtown with a business called Historical Haunts. I've had to memorize over an hour and a half of dark, spooky tales about our city; so, instead of sitting back and enjoying music, I actually talk to myself in the car. I tell myself about Hernando DeSoto, the Chickasaw Indians, haunted Marine Hospital, Battle of Memphis, Sultana disaster, and Alice and Freda, to name a few.
ReplyDeleteOh Joyce! I might have to plan a trip out for a ghost tour with you as a host! :)
DeleteHistorical Haunts sound like they would be quite interesting. I don't drive anymore, but I've always got my ears open for new music. YouTube is my friend :)

That is a great song. Thanks for playing it today.
ReplyDelete"That is a great song"
DeleteUh... there are five songs here. Not sure which one you are referring to.
~Mary
Hi Mary. Not sure if it's just me or my phone, but only one video song is loading for me: the Kelly Clarkson one is the only one.

Hey there Darren!
DeleteIt's a playlist, so there should be others that play after the Kelly Clarkson song. I just checked on my phone, and the playlist works there. Let me know if you have any more issues.
~Mary
Ohhhhh k! Thanks Mary!

Good idea to just throw some random songs together. That can work out really well. Song #5 is missing from your playlist, by the way.
ReplyDeleteThanks, John!
DeleteI've got that fixed now. Not sure how it managed to get away from me.
~Mary
LOVE your song choices! Some I hadn't heard yet, but I love them all! Thanks for the dance! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Stacy
DeleteYup, these are all very recent releases, but I do like their sound!
~Mary
Mary,
ReplyDeleteThese are mostly new-to-me tunes. I wasn't too crazy about Kelly Clarkson's performance. She's done better live than this. Her vocals just didn't sound right to my ear. I like Foo Fighters' new song "The Sky Is A Neighborhood". Gary Clark Jr did a great cover of a classic Beatles' tune, "Come Together". I met Harry Styles on someone's blog awhile back. Was it you who introduced him to me? However, I don't recall this Fleetwood Mac song, "The Chain". Hmmm, maybe I have to hear them do it before the bell in my head jingles. :) However, Styles does a nice job on the song. I do like his rendition regardless of my failed memory. Sam Smith's falsetto is a bit too much this early in the morning. I think its a song I could enjoy later in the day, though. Where's that second cup of coffee? Thanks for sharing these recent releases and for hitting the dance floor with the 4M gang. Have a good day! ;)
Cathy
DeleteThe reason they are mostly new to you, is that the songs are all new releases within the last few months. Good thing the playlist is available 24/7 - that way you don't have to listen to them first thing in the morning.
Oh I like this randomness theme! Great playlist Mary. Love hearing new releases. Out of all the songs here my favorite by far is Harry Styles' version of The Chain. That beginning beat just pulls me in and doesn't let go until the end. The song is one of my favorite Fleetwood Mac songs. He did a good job with it.
ReplyDeleteThe other song that I really enjoyed in your playlist is the Foo Fighters' Sky is a Neighborhood.
I just left you a vote over at your battle and the same thing that happened with the battle date rolling up on me and catching me off guard, this past Monday did the same thing. I'm completely overwhelmed with stuff on my end and I'm way behind on all things fun... Hopefully by next Monday I can have a post ready for the 4M.
talk soon,
Michele at Angels Bark
Hey there Michele. I just tried to reply to your comment on my battle, but for some reason the page is fighting me today. I was totally blown away with Harry Style's version of The Chain as well. It's quite impressive.
DeleteI know all about the days sneaking up on us. Can you believe we're almost into October now? Just a head's up - it looks like more themes have been posted on Marie's page if you want to start planning ahead :)
~Mary
I'm addicted to Palaye Royale these days. "Mr. Doctor Man" is a fabulous song and video. ~grin~ I also found a ten year old album by a band called Black Light Burns. Good stuff, sort of industrial goth metal. Be well!
ReplyDeleteHi Darla
DeleteI don't think I've heard either of these bands. I may need to check them out.
Thanks for dropping by!
~Mary
I just got an earlier EP by Palaye Royale yesterday. More good stuff, if quite different from "Boom Boom Room (Side A)", their latest album. The piano is more prominent (not a bad thing) and there are some backing vocals (not sure the female voices work for me; I like lead singer Remington's voice all by itself). I look forward to "Side B" coming out in the spring. Hope you're well!
